Don’t let opportunity slip through your hands

Over 130 years ago a man started selling soaps. This was a competitive market as soaps were cheap to make so in order to improve sales this man decided to give away free baking powder with every soap purchase.

Baking powder soon became more popular than the soap so he decided to drop the soap and sell baking powder. He used the same sales tactic as before. Every time someone bought baking powder they would get a free item. This time it was chewing gum. And the same thing happened, chewing gum became more popular than the baking powder and so he started selling just the chewing gum.

The chewing gum was called Juicy Fruits and the man was called William Wrigley Jr, the founder of the Wrigley Company. As a result of adapting and evolving his product, he built one of the biggest companies in the world. How are you adapting and evolving in your industry in order to fulfil your customer?

Noticed how the money just kept shifting? The smart thinking was spotting how to jump onto the opportunity. Read my other blog about ‘Money just shifts’.
