I recently watched the programme about Sainsbury’s – Inside the Supermarket on the BBC. Here are my thoughts on episode 5:
Sainsbury’s has created a Future Brands team that looks at products that could be featured in the stores.
95 brands got in touch. A sectional of these were trailed and a few even passed the trail.
Great idea and worked really well.
But what about using that idea in a different place.
What about another idea called Future Ideas.
Employees of Sainsbury’s could send ideas to a team and they can investigate and experiment if they could work.
Throughout the series it shows that employees in the stores have ideas to improve the company so have a place for them to send them in.
They also can think more like a consumer because they deal with them everyday. They see what they are happy and unhappy with.
For example, what if every time a customer asks for a product in a store and the store doesn’t have it, they could note this down. If more people are asking for a certain product, then that could be added to the store.
