I recently watched the programme about Sainsbury’s – Inside the Supermarket on the BBC. Here are my thoughts on episode 4:
This episode focuses on Brits holidaying at home and how key stores in Cornwall cash in on the opportunity.
In the stores they had dedicated products for each store.
Cornwall related products were featured in both stores such as Cornwall brewed alcohol and it was a success.
Now think of the bigger picture. The bigger opportunity.
Because it worked in those stores it could work in all stores across the country.
And people like supporting communities and the local area. Just look how people are supporting communities in lockdown.
What about having a section in all stores that sells products that are created in the area?
For example, in Lincoln there are many products created there such as beer and crisps.
